I’m beginning to think I’d be a lot further along in the game of publishing had I taken this route 2 years ago. Hmmm…what do you think? Amanda Hocking did it quite successfully, and now Barry Eisler’s about to switch gears and self-publish.
Here are some links to peruse and contemplate. I’d love to know if you’d give a self-published romance novel a read even though there’s a certain stigma of inferiority attached to such literary works.
Self-Publishing vs. Traditional Publishing: Which Way Will You Make More Money?
Nathan Bransford says: “Thanks to Barry’s [Eisler] wonderfully transparent conversation with Joe Konrath, we know he was offered $500,000 for two books, turned it down, and currently plans to (I believe) self-publish his e-books on Amazon with a price around $4.99, or via Smashwords.”

Lis’Anne ~ 🙂
I’ve been hearing a lot lately about how people are making a living writing and self publishing. Seems too good to be true. But I don’t think most readers look at who is publishing a book. Now that widespread distrubution is possible, I think self-published book do have a much better chance than ever before. And in answer to your question, I do read some small press romances. I would read a self-pubbed romance it was reccomended to me or I’d heard good things. It’s all about the buzz. 😉

It is, isn’t it? All about the buzz. One would have to be committed to promoting if earning a living wage were a major consideration. Although I could really use the money in these trying times, for me it’s more about the dream of having my work open for public consumption. I’m this close [ ] to taking the plunge. Excellent cover art (or more like thumbnail art) is an important factor. Maybe it would spark my writing mojo. I’m so hit and miss these days. So sad when I have excellent critique partners who do their best to keep me motivated!
